Imagine - a new North Vancouver museum on the waterfront

Although it’s summertime, there’s still a lot going on at North Vancouver’s Museum & Archives. Here are some items worth noting:

  • City Council has endorsed the brand (“The Shipyards”), people-centered mission, and focus of Roger Brooks’ Central Waterfront Plan, including recommendations that the site should be cultural rich (with performances and public events) and historically rich (showcasing our shipbuilding past and the First Nations people who have been here for millenia). A New Museum in the Pipe Shop will be a key component of the site.
  • The New Museum’s neighbor to the west, in the Coppersmith Shop, will be the award-winning Tap & Barrel Restaurant (slated to open mid-2015). We’ve met with the owner and look forward to providing archival images and other shipyard items to give the new restaurant a unique sense of place.
